Talking About Books Tuesday...In the Garden series (Blue Dahlia, Black Rose, Red Lily), Nora Roberts

What I’m reading now: Mysteria Anthology (Davidson, Grant, Cast, Showalter)

I decided to lump these all together in one review for two reasons…one, they’re all tied together, and two, they’re all fabulous! Each book revolves around the continuing relationship of three women, Roz, Stella and Hayley, and how their lives change as they come together at Roz’ familial home, Harper House. The first book is Stella’s (Blue Dahlia). Several years after the death of her husband, Stella and her two boys are ready for a fresh start and head to Memphis trying to score a new career as the manager for In the Garden nursery. In Roz and Hayley she finds a sisterhood she never knew, and in Logan the love she never thought she’d find—or want—again. But there’s more than meets the eye at Harper House, as each of them find out when the ghost of the mansion, the Harper Bride, decides to make her presence known. The second book is Roz’ (Black Rose). As the matriarch of Harper House, Roz also lost her husband at an early age, and found a way to keep her home and raise her three boys when she gambled and started In the Garden. When the Harper Bride makes an unfriendly entrance upon Stella and Hayley’s arrival, Roz decides to find the history behind the ghost, and in doing so, meets genealogist Mitch. The Harper Bride becomes more and more vocal—and dangerous—with each new romance that begins to bloom. Red Lily is Hayley’s story, and the culmination to the trilogy. Single mother Hayley showed up on Roz’ doorstep wanting nothing more than a fresh start for her and her unborn child. What she finds is the extended family she never knew she was missing—and romance in the form of Roz’ son, Harper.

A fabulous trilogy, each story ties in intrinsically with the other, enough so that I’d recommend reading them in the order presented. This is an excellent set of books that center around the truth and love of family, with a good dose of intrigue and history hunting that ends in a climax that is pure gold—and pure Roberts.
